World Bank Global Road Safety Facility – A Decade of Saving Lives Through Catalysing Road Safety Investments

Road Safety Management, 2024

Over the past decade , the Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF) has catalyzed and informed $3.34 billion in World Bank financing for dedicated road safety investments, which have provided 65 million people with access to safer roads (between mid-2018 and mid-2023 alone). GRSF’s ability to scale up road safety investments in developing countries, and to link road safety technical assessments to government investments that reduce fatalities, prove GRSF to be a unique global partner in producing impressive road safety results.

Aim and objectives

GRSF is a multi-donor partnership, managed by the World Bank, that supports efforts in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to halve road traffic fatalities and serious injuries. To achieve its objectives, GRSF provides grants, knowledge, and technical assistance to scale-up road safety efforts in LMICs; catalyzes and informs multisectoral road safety investments financed by the World Bank and other multilateral development banks (MDBs); and delivers global road safety knowledge products and capacity enhancement initiatives.
