Bare Bones

Commendation

Highly Commended, 2008

A campaign to reduce road casualties of twist’n’go scooter and moped riders.

Broken bones are commonplace injuries due to a lack of suitable protective clothing and, in some cases, abrasion injuries can be as severe as third degree burns! These injuries are often slow to heal and can have lasting side effects.

This education and publicity campaign has been specifically designed to ensure that these young riders are made aware of their vulnerability, and to help to reduce their chances of suffering unnecessary injuries.

Since its inception, serious casualties to young motor scooter riders have reduced by 36% in Nottinghamshire, and in 2007 the aims of the project were achieved.
