CAPUFE – National Road Safety Model and Road Safety Mangement System adoption

Road Safety Management, 2017

CAPUFE is a federal state-owned toll operator with a market share of 45% of the Mexican turnpike infrastructure-more than 4,000km.

The company decided to emulate two good practice models recommended by the World Bank: the National Road Safety Coordination Arrangements model and the Road Safety Management System-both intended for national governments.

It has demonstrated that it has adapted these two models with great success and now provides reliable evidence in terms of accident and severity reduction and that corporate governance of state-owned enterprises ensures effective implementation and continuity.
