Metropolitan Police Traffic Command – Exchanging Places

Education and Training, 2013

Exchanging Places is an innovative programme addressing the most common cause of cyclist fatalities and serious injuries - collisions with large goods vehicles (LGVs). Cyclists are given the opportunity to occupy the driver’s seat of an LGV to see its blind spots first hand. Police officers from the Metropolitan Police Traffic Command meet cyclists face to face to discuss how they deal with such collisions to reinforce the physical experience and then demonstrate tactics to give people the skills and confidence to cycle safely
