SaferAfrica – SaferAfrica

Road Safety Management, 2019

SaferAfrica SaferAfrica was also created as part of the EU Horizon 2020 project to create a dialogue platform to strengthen the cooperation among governments, research institutions and NGOs across the two continents. SaferAfrica has supported national and local governments to improve understanding of current weaknesses and country management. It has also provided training and ready-to-implement projects and examples of international good practice.

The project was delivered by a Consortium of 17 African and European partners: NTUA, Vias Institute, IRF, IFSTTAR, Loughborough University, LNEC, SWOV, SITRAS, APRE, Chalmers, ENSTP, HI, Alcol, Ici-Santé, CITA, SSATP, coordinated by the Research Centre for Transport and Logistics (CTL) of Sapienza University of Rome.

The platform provides a foundation for the recently launched Africa Road Safety Observatory, which is a strong collaborative programme involving many African countries and international organisations including World Bank, Global Road Safety Facility, The African Union, the Sub-Sarah Africa Transport Policy Programme, UKAid, FIA, UNECE, and the African Development Bank.
