Prestigious awards presented for Road Safety Management.
The Qatar National Traffic Safety Committee, Scotland Transerv and the Centre for Accident and Road Safety Queensland (CARRS-Q), have all been honoured at this year's Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards ceremony for Road Safety Management.

Qatar is a fine example of good Road Safety Management in the Middle East and amongst developing nations.
The National Traffic Safety Committee is the lead agency, chaired by the Prime Minister. The 2nd 5-year Action Plan of the National Road Safety Strategy was launched in 2013 and recently updated to embrace a bespoke Safe System to reflect the unique characteristics of Qatar which include a rapid population and infrastructure growth, high vehicle ownership levels and a high percentage of migrant workers.
Despite the enormous traffic growth, road traffic fatalities have reduced from 235 in 2013 to 177 in 2017.
- Scotland Transerv:
Scotland TranServ’s Strategic Road Safety programme has delivered a significant impact on reducing accident figures across the network. It continues to develop cutting edge innovative solutions to existing road safety challenges and has deployed highly effective road design supported by interactive systems for communication with drivers. The company has also introduced app-based systems for communication with disable road users.
The company achieved targets far in advance of government identified guidelines and has continued the rapid modernisation of the network, improving safety by design.
- CARRS - Q:
Since 1996, The Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety - Queensland (CARRS-Q) has offered a Higher Degree Research education program, consisting of PhD and Masters by research degrees, to national and international students. It has become a world-leading institution which is highly respected for its research and learning.
Between 2013-2017, there were 54 domestic students and 26 international HDR students.
