London’s Direct Vision Standard – Direct Vision Standard for HGVs
Between2015 and 2017, an HGV was involved in 63% of cyclist and 25% of pedestrian fatalities on London’s roads.
Transport for London (TfL) launched the world’s first Direct Vision Standard (DVS) in October 2019 to contribute towards the Mayor’s Vision Zero ambition. The DVS seeks to improve drivers’ direct vision through the cab windows of HGVs and prevent collisions caused by limited visibility.
