JKJR and MIROS win Prince Michael Award for Road Safety Education project

The Malaysian Road Safety Department (JKJR) is pleased to announce that Malaysia through the initiative of JKJR and the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) has won a prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award for its Road Safety Education Project (RSE).
This prestigious award is a public recognition to the most outstanding achievements and innovations in road safety initiatives internationally. The Award ceremony hosted by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent was held this afternoon at The Savoy, London, United Kingdom. The Malaysian delegation was led by Dato' Hj. Rosli bin Isa, Director General of JKJR and Dr. Low Suet Fin, Director of Road User Behavioural Change Research Centre MIROS, who received the prestigious award from His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent during the ceremony.
The panel of judges in awarding the award to JKJR and MIROS recognised the Malaysian Road Safety Education Project as a successful initiative in integrating the road safety modules into the Malaysian Primary School Curriculum. This project was carried out through the strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Education under the Malaysian Road Safety Plan 2014-2020 with the objective of reducing the rate of accidents in Malaysia.
JKJR and MIROS are honoured to receive this award and would like to extend their thanks to His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent and the panel of judges of the for the recognition given for this project. This award also represents the hard and long journey of the ministries and agencies involved, directly and indirectly, in the development and implementation of the RSE modules since its inception in 2007. Therefore, JKJR and MIROS would also like to share this honour and recognition to all the parties involved in the successful implementation of this project.
This award will bolster the implementation of RSE in primary schools in ensuring that road safety forms as a part of the Malaysian culture in reducing the rate of road traffic accidents in Malaysia. The RSE is also currently implemented for the lower secondary schools and will be extended to pre-schools from 2020 onwards.
