Staffordshire County Council Road Safety Unit – Motorcycle Casualty Reduction Strategy

Motorcycle, 2009

An extensive program of initiatives to inform, publicise, educate and provide services to motorcyclists throughout the county. A major initiative that was introduced in 2006 was the ‘Ride it Right’ scheme. Following the analysis of three years casualty data, stretches of road within the county were identified as having a high number of motorcycle casualties. In 2008 new ‘higher priority’ routes were selected which produced a 53% reduction on the previous year.  Over the last 3 years, events held by Motorcycle Casualty Reduction strategy have seen them engage with over 2000 motorcyclists.
