The 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety has come to an end. Now the real work begins!
The Stockholm Declaration, presented to the Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety will form the basis of the plan to address the international challenge to reduce casualties by fifty percent by 2030. Now is the time to turn ideas, experiences and shared knowledge and successes into action. A strong political commitment is required at all levels, together with regional and national strategies and road safety action plans.
The global character of the challenge calls for international cooperation and partnerships across many sectors of society. Given this, the Government of Sweden has worked to ensure broad stakeholder engagement around the Stockholm Declaration.
RoadSafe was pleased to have been able to support the conference through our work in the UN Road Safety Collaboration working groups on management and work related road safety and through briefings for The UK ministerial delegation led by Baroness Vere and of course in our support for HRH Prince Michael of Kent who attended the conference, where he met many of his former award winners and was able to present his Decade of Action Award to the Swedish Minister for Infrastructure, Mr.Tomas Eneroth.
