RoSPA Fleet Safety Awards 2019

26 June 2019

The winners of two prestigious fleet safety awards have been announced by RoSPA.

HTS (Property and Environment) Limited, which is Harlow Council’s housing repairs and maintenance, facilities management and environmental services company, won the Fleet Safety Trophy at the RoSPA Fleet Safety Awards 2019.

And London-based construction firm McGee Group, which is marking its 60th anniversary this year, won the Fleet Safety Technology Trophy.

RoSPA’s Fleet Safety Trophy is presented annually to the organisation that demonstrates the most effective and cohesive programme for the management of occupational road risk (MORR), supported by historical performance data. HTS (Property and Environment) Limited was recognised for its excellent approach to MORR, which is led from the top, is well implemented through the management chain and is fully integrated into the company’s overall health and safety strategy. There is a strong training focus, covering managers and individual drivers, good manager-led incident investigation and a range of communications and feedback loops for implementing changes and improvements.

RoSPA’s Fleet Safety Technology Trophy, sponsored by Tesco Dotcom, is presented in recognition of an organisation’s commitment to using the latest technology to manage occupational road risk. McGee Group has demonstrated a progressive approach to safety across the mix of vehicles and class types that make up its fleet. Drivers, vehicles and routes are monitored by various technological methods, with data analysed at least weekly, if not daily. Interventions have been introduced to avoid bridge strikes and to reduce time on the road. There is a strong safety culture and the firm is supportive of innovations and developing young talent, and its safety values are inherent from the top down.
