FIA High Level Panel for Road Safety Report

31 October 2018

Based on current trends 500 million people will be killed or injured in road crashes worldwide between now and 2030. That disaster must not be allowed to happen. The UN Road Safety Trust Fund has now been established to support institutional actions that support safe system principles worldwide with a great summary provided in the recently launched FIA High Level Panel report "Committed to Deliver".

In April 2018, the first ever United Nations Road Safety Trust Fund (UNRSTF) was welcomed by the United Nations General Assembly. The creation of this Fund is a landmark moment as it will not only help to provide seed funding for scalable, life-saving road safety projects, but also cement road safety’s status as an emergency on par with other global challenges. The FIA and the FIA High Level Panel for Road Safety will be working to ensure its success, notably by working towards the creation of an innovative financing mechanism that will help raise money for road safety worldwide. Simultaneously, the #3500LIVES campaign — launched with the support of JCDecaux and FIA Clubs — has gone from strength to strength and has now been displayed in over 900 cities in approximately 80 countries
